Ohana Reads' 5th Blogiversary!

Hello friends! It's certainly been a year, and I haven't spent as much time here as I would have liked. Where I miss posting all the time, I just haven't been able to get into a routine of things anymore. I think saying that, I've come to terms with it. I'm officially okay with being that person who just posts randomly, I hope you guys are alright with that too.

Even though I haven't posted a bunch on the blog, I've still been very active on Twitter and in the book community. So if you ever want to chat, don't be afraid to hit me up!

Anyways, time for me to tell you about how my 2018 went:

Like every year, I wouldn't have been able to survive the year without the help of some amazing friends and people in my life. Here are the people that made my year amazing.

People Who Made 2018 Great:

Ola from The Autumn Bookshelf
I could always count on Ola to send me cute videos and bring me ice cream. Just not Pancakes and Waffles ice cream, we don't talk about that.

Lainey from McNally Robinson Kids
Lainey worked with me at McNally Robinson before she left in September, but before that she was one of my favourite people to work with and one of the best travel buddies. I can not wait for our next adventure together.

Stephanie from Doodle's Book Reviews
I loved being able to see my twin again at Book Expo and Book Con, Stephanie is one of my favourite people, even when she calls me a Polar Bear Butt all the time.

The *~Cool~* Blogger Pep Brothel
This group of people is one of the weirdest and insanely passionate group of people that I've ever met. I had been friends with a majority of them since I began blogging, but come this past May, I was able to meet them in person for the first time. They made my trip one to remember, and have made my life interesting as heck with our group chat ever since.
So please give them a follow: Jessica, Amber, Emily, Ellie, Taylor, Katie, Rose, Angel, Cody, Mo, Kitty, Camille, Sophie, Chloe, Lili, Caro, Darnell, Ben, Kayla, and Alysia.

Sabrina is a brat, but a brat I love dearly. She's the one I go to when I need to rant about life or just talk about books. Sabrina's grown into something so much more than just a book friend, and I'm glad to be able to call her a sister.

Highlights of Ohana Reads 2018:

1. BEA/Book Con 2018. In May/June 2018, Sabrina, Lainey and I headed to New York for Book Expo America and Book Con. This was the first time either of them had been to a book convention, so just seeing their excitement and see them get to meet their favourite authors made the trip amazing for me. Of course, I had a great time being back at Book Expo again, but it was certainly a different experience than 2016. I even got to meet a bunch of my online friends that I've been friends with since forever, I had the time of my life and can not wait to go back.

2. I've officially been at McNally Robinson for over a year now, and I feel like it's a second home to me. I run and manage my own sections, like Teen Series and Teen Mystery books, and I love helping teachers buy books for their classrooms. It's such an amazing time working at McNally Robinson, I can't imagine ever leaving.

3. Sabrina and I started The Royal Explorers in 2018. We always wanted to do something bookish together, but could never give up our own blogs for the other, so we started a Bookstagram account. We haven't been the greatest at keeping up with it, but we love it nevertheless.

Goals for 2018:

1. Like last year, I want to read my ARCs before their publication date. I'm the worst at keeping up and would like to change that.

2. Routines. I'd like 2019 to be about getting into a routine of things so I'm able to work and still have time to blog and work on my Bookstagram. It doesn't necessarily mean I have a routine of posting things on specific days, but more along the lines of just finding time to post in general.

3. I want to join more blogger activities, like Twitter chats. I'm the worst at actually commenting on posts and replying to Tweets, etc. I want to actually want to participate in things again. This goal, I'm holding the Cool Blogger Pep Brothel accountable for ahahah.
