Waiting on Wednesday: (47)

Deceptions

Kelley Armstrong
The Cainsville Chronicles, #3
Random House of Canada
Expected: August 7th, 2015

Description from GoodReads:

Olivia’s life has exploded. She’s discovered she’s not only adopted, but her real parents are convicted serial killers. Fleeing the media frenzy, she took refuge in the oddly secluded town of Cainsville. She has since solved the town’s mysteries and finds herself not only the target of its secretive elders, but also her stalker ex-fiancĂ©.

Visions continue to haunt her: particularly a little blond girl in a green sundress who insists she has an important message for Olivia, one that may help her balance the light and darkness within herself. Death stalks Olivia and the two men most important to her, as she desperately searches to understand whether ancient scripts are dictating their triangle. Will darkness prevail or does Olivia have the power to prevent a tragic fate?

Why I Want It:

I've been a huge fan of Kelley Armstrong since her Darkest Powers series hit the shelves. She visited Winnipeg when she was on tour for Omens, the first book in the Cainsville Chronicles. Since then I've read Visions, the sequel, and I can not get enough of the series. I will be picking up every book that comes out as we go along:)

That was my Waiting on Wednesday for this week! Will you be picking up Deceptions when it releases? What are you waiting on this week?

Summer Blogger Promo Tour: Seating and Fictional Characters with Reading is My Treasure

The Summer Blogger Promo Tour was created by The Book Bratz as a fun way to promote blogs and make blogger friends.

Today I have Kaitlin from Reading is My Treasure!

Kaitlin loves all things books, especially book covers! She also loves gemstones, polished rocks and lists!

When she's not blogging or reading she can be found watching Criminal Minds or knitting!

I asked Kaitlin to answer a question for my post today! My question was:

Say you were sitting at a circular table with ten fictional characters, who would they be and why? Who would you be sitting beside?

I'll let Kaitlin take over from here!

I everyone! I hope you like this post. It was a fun topic. Thank you to Stephanie for hosting me.☺

I wanted to pick characters that I like as people. I also wanted one of similar age and from the same world (that's easy with contemporaries). Lastly, I wanted at least some familiarity among the characters so we weren't all strangers. Here are the books I finally chose from!

   The Ten Characters I picked:

Bianca and Wesley from The Duff

Sonny and Amy from Lying Out Loud

Remy and Dexter from This Lullaby

Jess from This Lullaby

Samantha and Jase from My Life Next Door

This group seems like a fun one! They're all people I can imagine enjoying having dinner with. I can talk to them and have a good conversation. Plus, I can see the characters from the individual books getting along with the characters from the other books. I imagine Dexter, Wesley, and Bert would get along pretty well.

I would sit next to Bert and Jess (I'm imagining a round table). They're both great supporting characters and I think I would like talking to them the most. Plus, they're not part of a pair like everyone else. It may be a little easier to get a conversation going with those two.

What about you? Who would you want to have at your dinner table?

Thanks for stopping by Kaitlin! You can give her a follow here:

Now a big thank you for everyone who stopped by! The tour is only starting! I can't wait for you to meet everyone on the tour!

Hiatus!

Hey Everyone!

Stephanie here! So just a heads up! I'm going to be distant from social media from today till the 20th! My family is going on two separate vacations and so I probably won't have a lot of access to the internet or I'll be too busy to pay much attention to it!

No worries on blog front! I have a bunch of posts planned, including more Summer Blogger Promo Tour stops!

If you really need to get a hold of me, shoot me an email at ohanareads@gmail.com ! I should be checking it at least twice a day!

See you all on the 20th!

The Dark Elements
HarlequinTeen
Expected: July 28th, 2015

Description from GoodReads:

Some loves will last ’til your dying breath

Layla has a new problem, too. A Lilin—the deadliest of demons—has been unleashed, wreaking havoc on those around her…including her best friend. To keep Sam from a fate much, much worse than death, Layla must strike a deal with the enemy while saving her city—and her race—from destruction.

Torn between two worlds and two different boys, Layla has no certainties, least of all survival, especially when an old bargain comes back to haunt them all. But sometimes, when secrets are everywhere and the truth seems unknowable, you have to listen to your heart, pick a side—and then fight like hell…

Why I Want It:

THE SASS, THE ROMANCE, AND THE FINAL SAND. This book is going to kill me, and then bring me back just to kill me again. Honestly if you haven't read this series, then I don't know what you're doing with your life.

That's my Waiting on Wednesday for this week! Will you be picking up Every Last Breath? What are you waiting on this week? Let me know!

Summer Blogger Promo Tour: Popular Books that Disappointed You With Crossroads Reviews

The Summer Blogger Promo Tour was created by The Book Bratz as a fun way to promote blogs and make blogger friends.

   Hello everyone!

This year I joined The Summer Blogger Promo Tour hosted by the fabulous ladies at The Book Bratz!  Like I said above, the tour is a fun way to promote other blog/ bloggers and to make new blogger friends. So for each Sunday until the end of August you'll be meeting a new blogger!

So let's see who I'm introducing to you today!

A warm welcome to Jessica from Crossroads Reviews !

(Give Jessica's blog a look here!)

Jessica is a stay at home mom of two girls, both of who also help review for Crossroads Reviews. Both her and her girls live in Florida where they can be found hanging out at Disney or Universal Studios, or of course reading books!

Today Jessica and I will be discussing Popular Books that Disappointed Her.

On Twitter you always see bloggers obsessing over certain books, authors and series. (i.e Leigh Bardugo, Sarah J. Maas, Richelle Mead) What are some popular books that disappointed you or that you just didn’t enjoy?

Jessica:

OMG YES!!!! At the top of my list is Dear Killer by Katherine Ewell, this book had so much going for it but then the ending was just so bad that UGH, I was just so mad about it.

Across the Universe and Inside were both sucky.  They were both very confusing and well I just couldn’t make myself read them.

The Mark of the Tala, I tried a few times to read but it was a very weird book.  The first 190 pages are all TEEN and it was amazing!!!  Then all of a sudden there is all this explicit sex that is thrown in, at first I was like, WTF did I just read that?  I was sent book three for review and well I really REALLY wanted to know what happened, but in the end that turn of events just made the book suck.

A lot of the other books listed on the board were either just slow or the endings sucked.  Like Plus One, the ending made it so the entire story was pretty much worthless. I mean where is the resolution anything!!!!

For others I have a board that I am slowly adding books to that are a disappointment.  You can find it here.

Stephanie:

Sadly there were a bunch of books/series that I just couldn't get into or like that everyone seemed to enjoy.

The Grisha series by Leigh Bardugo and the Daughter of Smoke and Bone Series by Laini Taylor had too much going on all at once for me to really get what was going on. I'd still would have loved to have completed the series, but I just couldn't appreciate them.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and the Divergent Trilogy by Veronica Roth both did the same thing for me when reading the series, I 'd love the first book in the series, the second books would have potential but then I'd hate the last ones. ( Mockingjay & Allegiant)

You can find a few other books I "Gave Up On", on my GoodReads shelf here.

Thanks for stopping by Jessica! It was great having you! Everyone give her a follow on her on Twitter, and her blog!

Thanks again for stopping by everyone, I can't wait till to introduce you to the next blogger next week!

Recommendation Fridays: The Aquarathi by Amalie Howard

Waterfall was one of those books I first discovered at the Public Library and never forgot about. It was always on my mind until I heard when it's sequel, Oceanborn, was going to be released. Then I was stuck thinking about Oceanborn all the time. The Aquarathi series is one of THOSE series, and trust me it's one of the best series to have a book hangover for.

A wacky twist on Mermaids and Aliens, Royalty, Romance. All the great qualities a book needs to drive a reader insane with needing more.

I highly recommend this series to everyone with a fancy for mermaids, it'll definitely satisfy any mermaid craving you have.

The series would probably be best for people who like the following books:
Fantasy, Paranormal, Sci- Fi, Mermaids, Aliens, Royalty, the Ocean

But like always, it's a great series for everyone!

Waiting on Wednesday: (45)

Silver in the Blood

Jessica Day George
Silver in the Blood, #1
Bloomsbury USA Childrens
Expected: July 7th, 2015

Description from GoodReads:

Society girls from New York City circa 1890, Dacia and Lou never desired to know more about their lineage, instead preferring to gossip about the mysterious Romanian family that they barely knew. But upon turning seventeen, the girls must return to their homeland to meet their relatives, find proper husbands, and—most terrifyingly—learn the deep family secrets of The Claw, The Wing, and The Smoke. The Florescus, after all, are shape-shifters, and it is time for Dacia and Lou to fulfill the prophecy that demands their acceptance of this fate . . . or fight against this cruel inheritance with all their might.

With a gorgeous Romanian setting, stunning Parisian gowns, and dark brooding young men, readers will be swept up by this epic adventure of two girls in a battle for their lives.

Why I Want It:

Any book that has Romanian shapeshifter or vampires is a must for me, I grew up hearing about the "Romanian Vampires" and such. To be able to finally read a YA about a retelling of the stories is fabulous! The perfect read to start up the summer!

That is my Waiting on Wednesday for this week, will you be picking up Silver in the Blood? What are you waiting on this week?
