Description from GoodReads:

Now that high school is over, Ari is dying to move to the big city with his ultra-hip band―if he can just persuade his dad to let him quit his job at their struggling family bakery. Though he loved working there as a kid, Ari cannot fathom a life wasting away over rising dough and hot ovens. But while interviewing candidates for his replacement, Ari meets Hector, an easygoing guy who loves baking as much as Ari wants to escape it. As they become closer over batches of bread, love is ready to bloom . . . that is, if Ari doesn’t ruin everything.

Review:

   God, you're such a dork.
As I’ve been working at McNally Robinson Booksellers, I’ve come to appreciate and love graphic novels. There have been new graphic novels that have stolen a piece of my heart, Bloom is one of them.

I had originally won an ARC of Bloom from Raincoast Books, during their Fall Teen Preview. My coworker had already been really excited about it’s release, so when it arrived, I read it in one night.

I instantly fell in love with the illustrations and colour. The book is written in various shades of blue and black, together with the art, Bloom is one of the most beautiful books I have ever read.

The storyline is also just plain adorable. A romance that blooms in a bakery, love and baked goods, what more could you want? Plus, the story feels entirely human. It’s a story that could potentially happen to anyone, because that’s how life is.

Bloom is one of my favourite books to recommend to anyone and everyone, I even made it a staff pick at work. If you want a super cute and beautiful story, then Bloom is the graphic novel for you.
