Ohana Talks: Top 5 Favourite Love Triangles

Love them or hate them, everyone has read a book with a love triangle in it. Whether it was the famous trio in Twilight or if it was some other.

Over the past years I've grown to love a select few of triangles, and I can say for a few of them I wouldn't be where I am today without them! So today I'm going to be telling you them! Here are my top 5 favourite love triangles!

Warning: Post will contain spoilers varying on the book series.

Four, Sarah & Six

When I first read I Am Number Four, I loved Four and Sarah together. He risked everything to be with her, but when Four and Sam go back to Paradise and "Sarah" turns them in to the Mogadorians I kind of lost it. I know we realize later that it wasn't actually Sarah, but it kind of stuck with me. Plus with Six being so bad ass, how could one not ship them.

Evie, Death & Jack

I was always iffy with Jack, so when Death came along I automatically fell in love. I've still only read the first two books, but with still 2 more books to go, I can't wait to see where Kresley Cole takes us!

America, Aspen & Maxon

What can I say, I'm still Team Aspen even after The Heir.

Kelsey, Kishan & Ren

I have so many tears for this series, I think this was the only series that I was constantly back and fourth between the guys. I still don't even think I have a team, I miss Kishan but with the ending we got, I can't say I don't love Ren. *SIGH*

Tessa, Jem & Will

I SHIP IT ALL, ALL OF THEM. I NEED MORE OF THEM I TELL YOU, MORE.

aha, well those are my Top 5 Love Triangles! Who are your favourites? Let me know, I'm always looking for more ships.

Review:

Contains Spoilers:

Let them come.
In 2011 I had first picked up City of Bones, the plot twist that was the end had me puzzled and intrigued. Obviously I had to get my hands on Ashes and Glass. When I finished City of Glass I was happy and satisfied with the ending. I had then moved on to Clockwork Angel, the first book in the Infernal Devices series. It was a little bit later that I learned that there was to be another 3 books in the Mortal Instruments series. I guess they were some sort of encore? Either way I had pre-ordered the fourth one. While I was somewhat disappointed with it, I continued on again to read the fifth book. City of Lost Souls had me again somewhat disappointed, none of these new books to me were better then the original three. By this point I had finally finished The Infernal Devices trilogy, I loved this series so dearly that when City of Heavenly Fire snippets were being released I would squeal when a snippet would contain a Infernal Devices character. With all these little connections being announced I just had to read City of Heavenly Fire. Truth be told, I read this book for the Infernal Devices connections.
At the beginning of the novel Brother Zachariah was mentioned as that, a brother. After reading the epilogue of Clockwork Princess I had thought that Brother Zachariah would be Jem again through out the novel. But it turned out that the actions from City of Heavenly Fire that cause Brother Zachariah to be a shadowhunter again. Thus putting City of Heavenly Fire between the novel of Clockwork Princess and it's epilogue. In the epilogue of CoHF, Tessa Grey was introduced along side *Brother Zachariah* and I couldn't have been happier. Although they didn't say much or have a lot to do with the novel, I was happy to learn that both Zachariah and Tessa are going to be in Cassandra's new shadowhunter series The Dark Artifices. I hope they along with Church, who they stole will have a larger role then they did in CoHF.
My favourite scene from CoHF was when Clary, Jace, Isabelle, Alec and Simon enter Edom and all the characters started to have these fantasies about what this demon controlling them thought their hearts desires were. While most of all the dreams were unrealistic, Clary's stood out for me. To see what life would be like if Valentine had not been demented in his ways, because of this Jonathan Morgenstern would be a normal shadowhunter. It broke my heart to see Clary's dream because everything was so perfect. I would have loved to see a story about Jonathan when he was not Sebastian but normal, happy, loved. Even the little bit at the end when Jonathan was dying was heart touching.
Although I may not have enjoyed CoHF as much as the original three books, or the Infernal Devices, I still loved reading this book because of Cassandra's writing and because I finally got to see a happy ending for the characters of The Mortal Instruments. I look forward to reading the Dark Artifices when the first book, Lady Midnight.

Book Hangovers

Everyone has their own set of books that have given them the worst hangovers ever. Epic Reads defines Book Hangovers as the inability to start a new book because you are still living in the last book's world. Also as the inability to function at work/school because you were up all night binge reading. This is my list of my top ten books that fit into those categories!

The Selection

Author: Kiera Cass
Series: The Selection Trilogy #1
Harper Teen

Description from GoodReads:

For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself—and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

The part that gave me a book hangover for this book was that I just needed to know who she was going to pick already ugggh.

The Immortal Rules

Author: Julie Kagawa
Series: Blood of Eden #1
Harlequin Teen

Description from GoodReads:

To survive in a ruined world, she must embrace the darkness…

Allison Sekemoto survives in the Fringe, the outermost circle of a walled-in city. By day, she and her crew scavenge for food. By night, any one of them could be eaten. Some days, all that drives Allie is her hatred of them—the vampires who keep humans as blood cattle. Until the night Allie herself dies and becomes one of the monsters.

Forced to flee her city, Allie must pass for human as she joins a ragged group of pilgrims seeking a legend—a place that might have a cure for the disease that killed off most of civilization and created the rabids, the bloodthirsty creatures who threaten human and vampire alike. And soon Allie will have to decide what and who is worth dying for…again.

The way this book ended made me so sad! I needed to know what happens next!

Of Poseidon

Author: Anna Banks
Series: The Syrena Legacy #1
Feiwel & Friends

Description from GoodReads:

Galen is the prince of the Syrena, sent to land to find a girl he's heard can communicate with fish. Emma is on vacation at the beach. When she runs into Galen—literally, ouch!—both teens sense a connection. But it will take several encounters, including a deadly one with a shark, for Galen to be convinced of Emma's gifts. Now, if he can only convince Emma that she holds the key to his kingdom...

THE ENDING WAS SUCH A PLOT TWIST OH MY GOODNESS.

Beautiful Chaos

Authors: Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl
Series: Castor Chronicles #3
Little Brown and Company

Description from GoodReads:

Ethan Wate thought he was getting used to the strange, impossible events happening in Gatlin, his small Southern town. But now that Ethan and Lena have returned home, strange and impossible have taken on new meanings. Swarms of locusts, record-breaking heat, and devastating storms ravage Gatlin as Ethan and Lena struggle to understand the impact of Lena's Claiming. Even Lena's family of powerful Supernaturals is affected - and their abilities begin to dangerously misfire. As time passes, one question becomes clear: What — or who — will need to be sacrificed to save Gatlin?

For Ethan, the chaos is a frightening but welcome distraction. He's being haunted in his dreams again, but this time it isn't by Lena - and whatever is haunting him is following him out of his dreams and into his everyday life. Even worse, Ethan is gradually losing pieces of himself — forgetting names, phone numbers, even memories. He doesn't know why, and most days he's too afraid to ask.

Sometimes there isn't just one answer or one choice. Sometimes there's no going back. And this time there won't be a happy ending.

The ending for this one was just so poetic and beautiful yet tragic, I cried. There were so many tears.

The Evolution of Mara Dyer

Author: Michelle Hodkin
Series: Mara Dyer #2
Simon and Shuster Books for Young Readers

Description from GoodReads:

Mara Dyer once believed she could run from her past.
She can’t.

She used to think her problems were all in her head.
They aren’t.

She couldn’t imagine that after everything she’s been through, the boy she loves would still be keeping secrets.
She’s wrong.

This was the most mentally disturbing/ destroying book I've ever read. So yes, this book made my list.

Entice

Author: Carrie Jones
Series: Need #3
Bloomsbury

Description from GoodReads:

Zara and Nick are soul mates, meant to be together forever. But that's not exactly how things have worked out. Nick is dead-supposedly taken to some mythic place for warriors called Valhalla, where Zara and her friends might be able to get him back. Bedford needs its warriors more than ever, since a group of evil pixies is devastating the place. But even if Zara and her friends can reach Valhalla, there's that other small problem: Zara's been pixie kissed. Will Nick even want to return with her? Especially since she's not just any pixie . . . She's Astley's queen.

The main character endured and sacrificed so much for her love, only to be let down. It hit me hard.

Boundless

Author: Cynthia Hand
Series: Unearthly #3
HarperTeen

Description from GoodReads:

The past few years have held more surprises than part-angel Clara Gardner could ever have anticipated. Yet from the dizzying highs of first love, to the agonizing low of losing someone close to her, the one thing she can no longer deny is that she was never meant to live a normal life.

Since discovering the special role she plays among the other angel-bloods, Clara has been determined to protect Tucker Avery from the evil that follows her . . . even if it means breaking both their hearts. Leaving town seems like the best option, so she’s headed back to California - and so is Christian Prescott, the irresistible boy from the vision that started her on this journey in the first place.

As Clara makes her way in a world that is frighteningly new, she discovers that the fallen angel who attacked her is watching her every move. And he’s not the only one. . . . With the battle against the Black Wings looming, Clara knows she must finally fulfill her destiny. But it won’t come without sacrifices and betrayal.

It was a truly beautiful ending to a story, it was finished perfectly and the author even showed us the characters many years in the future after the series events occurred. I love when authors do that.

Series: Bloodlines #4
Razorbill

Description from GoodReads:

Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets - and human lives.

But the struggle isn't over for Sydney. As she navigates the aftermath of her life-changing decision, she still finds herself pulled in too many directions at once.    The end of this book was just heart breaking. Richelle knows what she's doing when she writes books aha.

Tiger's Destiny

Author: Colleen Houck
