August Wrap Up 2015

   August was definitely more jammed packed than July was, from camping to working, to even everyday things. I can 100% say I have not had a full on lazy day this month. 
   Anyhow at the beginning of the month my sisters and I went on a bookish adventure. We went to about 6 different bookstores in my city, some new and some old. Obviously some of the visits were a bust, but one stop was a gold mine! Red River Books, is now my favourite bookstore in the city, next to McNally Robinson of course!
   I finally had the chance to visit our local zoo! I used to visit maybe 2 times each summer, when we were younger but a few years ago they renovated. So I hadn't gotten to see it since! They based it around Churchill Manitoba! ( A place in our province that makes us popular.) It was fun to see how everything turned out!
   School starts back up on the 9th, and my body is not ready. My fam already has done our back to school shopping, now all that is left is the wait.
   Oh! And I discovered that Lawrence Hill will be making a stop in Winnipeg! So I'll see if I go to his signing or not!
   That's a wrap on August, September will undoubtedly be slower and have less action. So we'll see how that goes!

   Today I asked Kaitlin to spell her name with book titles! So I'll let her take it away!

   Hello Stephanie's readers! Welcome back to the Summer Blogger Promo Tour, I am excited to be here! Today, I am going to spell my name out in book titles and explain to you why I chose em! So, let's get to it. Also, I'm going to not use the "The's" because if I didn't this post would take me a year to write due to how uncommon the letters in my name are. Hope you guys enjoy.

The Kissing Booth by Beth Reekles

Why I Chose this Book: Hah, honestly most of the reasons you will get for this question is just because it was the only book I could find that had the letter I needed. This book especially because I rarely read books that have a title that start with the letter K. I did enjoy this book though. It was a cutesy contemporary and just gah! Made me so happy and blushy and :D.


Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

Why I Chose this Book: I know I could have chosen so many other books but this one is one of my favorite contemporaries. Gah this one was cutesy as well. I think I finished it in 2 days because it was the most addicting thing ever. The story was adorable, the characters are adorable, everything about this book was adorable.


If I Stay by Gayle Forman

Why I Chose this Book: Hah legit this book made my cry and sob and then become happy. This book just gave me a huge emotional roller coaster. Gayle wrote it so nicely and the plot is great. I thought the movie was great as well. However, I liked this book a lot more than Where She Went because If I Stay was a lot more interesting, in my opinion.


These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner

Why I Chose this Book: I read this on my trip around Canada and loved it. The duo perspective was great, I loved the plot and how it grew, and just the writing. I'm actually super sad that they didn't continue Lilac and Tarver's story. I think Tarver is in This Shattered World but for me, I want more. Hehe...



Let's Get Lost by Adi Alsaid


Why I Chose this Book: Ohhh if you know me, I have talked about this book so much. Let's Get Lost is one of my favorite books and it was a great read. I'm pretty sure Stephanie can agree with me. I loved the writing, characters, and the plot in general makes it a great read. If you were to ask me for recommendations, this would be one of them.


I Was Here by Gayle Forman

Why I Chose this Book: This is Gayle Forman's most recent book and I thought it was pretty good. It wasn't great and mind blowing but a pretty good read. It probably isn't for everyone but I liked it.


Never Fade by Alex Bracken

Why I Chose this Book: This is the only book on this list I haven't read. I actually haven't read any book that is part of this trilogy but with Passenger coming soon I think I may need to hurry up and read this trilogy before her new book. People RAVE about this trilogy so when I finally get to it, hopefully I will enjoy the trilogy.

Review:

   You don’t share me. You own me.
   I read If I Stay in preparation for the movie, I had been meaning to read it before then but the movie  gave me the final push. Anyhow, once I read the book and reached the cliffhanger that is the ending of the book I found myself needing to know what happens next. I first thought it was a standalone, imagine my excitement when I heard about Where She Went.
   I would constantly find out new things from the book, one being the stress of being a Rockstar. Tabloids only really tell people of the drama that the celebrity was pulled into and not of the real stress of it all. It was an interesting twist.
   I really like how the book showed the pain and pressure of Mia healing after the accident. Large traumatic events tend to make a big difference or change in the life of the person. Mia and Adam breaking up showed us that change. (Besides her family being dead, of course.)
   Honestly the book was just cute and simple, it was a fantastic read to have read in one or two sittings. It's definitely one of those books that pull you out of a book slump.
   I can't wait to read my next Gayle Forman book!

December Wrap Up!

Happy Holidays!

Viviane of Hebel Designs & I at YALLFest 2014

   December was definitely one of the busiest months I've had in a while, obviously because Christmas but it was among a few other things. Being broke from YALLFest did not help make Christmas shopping any easier, but in the end I think I did well. Signed Maze Runner for one sister, and America's Songbird necklace (The Selection) for the other.  I bought the necklace from the lovely Hebel Designs, I adore Vivane's  jewellery! (Viviane is the owner and designer of the website.)  I also got a few of her things for Christmas as well, I got Layla's Necklace (Dark Elements) and an Obsidian Necklace (Lux Series).  I actually got to meet Viviane at YALLFest 2014, she was such a sweetie. I think I may have actually surprised her when I asked for a photo aha. Alongside the jewellery I also got a stack of books! (Obviously) Besides all of that nothing really happened this month, next month on the other hand....
   The 3rd of January is my blogiversary! This past year I've been terrible when it comes planning things a head of time, BUT I for sure will have at least one pendant giveaway going! I'm trying to go for one on my blog and one on Twitter! So we'll see how that goes! New Years is also here and I can't wait to see what 2015 has to come! I hope you guys all enjoyed 2014 as much as I did!                                                                                       That's all for this month! Now for the bookish stats!

Why I Want It:


   I really enjoyed Gayle's If I Stay, and I've heard so many more great things about the rest of her books. But so far I've heard that I Was Here is her prized jewel. So obviously after hearing that about I Was Here I just had to jump onto the band wagon.


Why You Should Want It:


   Gayle has beautiful written and touches you on a inner level with her stories. If you'd like a unique and exhilarating experience, Gayle's books are definitely for you.

Ohana Talks: International Covers


   The first thing that normally catches people's eyes with books is their covers. Over the years you tend to see a lot of them, but along the way authors tend to post the covers for the different editions of their books. Being in a German immersion for 9 years of my life, I needed to do a German book report or two. Thus me discovering International editions of books. While I have multiple German favourite covers, these are five of my favourite international covers.

( These are in no particular order.)

What I Love:

   When you think about Las Vegas, you tend to think of gambling, dice games, or card games. So of course it makes sense that the suits of a card deck would be on the cover! The 3D shapes of the different suits is incredible! Along with the simplicity of it all, the AUS cover for The Secret Diamond Sisters is easily a favourite of mine.

What I Love:

   The snowfall is somewhat a major factor in the events that occurred in If I Stay. So to me the scene in this cover photo could have been what was happening around the accident.

What I Love:

   For the Spanish cover of Cinder, this is what I think the American cover should have looked like. It is almost the exact same as the American one but with one difference, the shoe is red rather then clear/crystal. In the original story of Cinderella the shoes is always crystal clear, besides the fact the the American cover matches the Scarlet and Cress cover's better with red. I still enjoy the crystal heels better.


Die for Me

What I Love:

   The german Die for Me cover reminds me of what I picture Europe would like be in the second World War. That's the time Vincent is from, so it'd make sense that way. It also has the hint of France to it, the street, the Eiffel Tower, the french silhouettes. The feel of the cover is more of a picture feel rather then a book cover feel.

What I Love:

   Once again, I adore covers with simplicity. When you think of Christmas, Christmas lights are one of the main things of the Holiday to spread cheer. So with the lights arranged in the shape of a heart it truly brings out the theme of My True Love Gave to Me.

September Wrap Up!

   This month many things happened for me! First of all school had started up again, and I couldn't be happier to see my friends again. On the down side my Math class is a totally pain in my butt, but oh well that's life for you. 
   Bookish wise, YALLFest is little over a month away and I am working my book off to collect enough money and books for the trip. You could say I'm a little bit excited. 
   Diamonds in the Rough comes out this month! Soon enough everyone will be able to own a book with my name in it, just the thought makes me giddy. 
   Lastly for this bookish month, I finally sent out my first ARC requests. Guess what?! I already got my first request in the mail, I got Burning Kingdoms by Lauren DeStefano.
When I first started blogging I had heard multiple times that publishing's don't consider you a serious blogger until 3 things happened. One, you post multiple times a week. Two, you have over 100 blog followers or a good amount of page views each month. Three, your blog must be over 6 months old. So having Simon and Schuster accept my request makes me feel like I'm serious blogger now, and that's all I really wanted.
   Something that I'm also very excited about that's not really bookish but exciting, is Halloween! I have nothing official yet about what I want to be, but I have a few ideas. What about you guys? What are you guys planning? Let me know here or on Twitter!
